In June 2011 I decided to partake in a journey that would change my life in ways that I could not imagine.

Running.

Heavier than I had ever been, I decided to stop playing games with myself, with my life. If I continued on the path I was on, I would be unhappy for the rest of my life. I have two beautiful little girls that deserve to have their mother around for many many many years. I want to make them proud. I want to teach them to be healthy, active, happy. I signed up for my first ever 5k, Oct 15, 2011. I downloaded the C25k app on my phone, and after summer vacation, I hit the road. At 208 lbs.

Fast forward to August 2014. Heavier than I even was before, and stopped running. Time to stop making excuses and get serious!

2011 Recap & 2012 Goals!

I began running in August 2011 after signing up for the Baltimore Running Festival 5k. My deadline was Oct 15th 2011. Since then, I have fallen in love with running and will continue this journey even further in 2012.

2011 Races
BRF 5k ~ 29:17
CHS Turkey trot 5k ~ 29:59
Celtic Solstice 5 mile ~ 48:38.

Total miles ran in 2011 ~ 143.5 miles.
Fastest mile ~ 8:58 (Mile 5 during celtic solstice)

I am not a believer in resolutions. I am a goal setter, and a goal achiever. I have some major goals for 2012.

Half Marathon ~ May 6, 2012
FULL Marathon ~ October 13, 2012

There will be many other races in between, and many training miles. In 2012 I will become stronger and faster. I will accomplish my goals!

First race of the year will be the Penguin Pace 5k ~ Feb 5, 2012. I feel this will "get me back in the saddle" after taking it easy over the holidays.

Happy New year!!!!!

Updates!

A friend of mine texted me and told me I should blog more. I really should! (Thanks Megan!)

My running has slowed down. First with my girls (and me) being sick, and now with the Holiday's fastly approaching, it is getting harder and harder.

Last Saturday I ran the Celtic Solstice 5 miler. It was an awesome race. It was a bit crowded though, and I decided to go towards the back of the pack, but that was a mistake. The first two miles were spent trying to get around people. The last two miles were awesome. A flat loop around Druid Lake and then a downhill finish. My last mile was under 9 minutes! My total time was 48:38. The shirt was awesome too! I will definetly be doing this race again in the future.

Goals in 2012 include a 10 miler (hopefully in March/April), Frederick Half Marathon (May 6th) and Baltimore Mararthon (Oct 13th). To Date I have lost approximatley 25 lbs. Hopefully by October I can lose another 25-30!

Here are my split times for the Celtic Solstice! I am really loving my Garmin (early x-mas present!)
